Education At The World Owl Centre

The World Owl Centre, based at Muncaster Castle at the edge of the beautiful Western Lakes has one of the best collections of Owls in the World. Ranging from mighty Eagle Owls to diminutive Pygmy Owls it is a fantastic place to learn something new.

For Everyone:

The World Owl Centre is a great place to learn something new, whatever your age or background. Around the Centre you will find informative signage telling you about each owl as well as thought provoking displays and live CCTV of the Owls in their nest boxes.

We also have entertaining talks; for a chance to see the birds flying (weather permitting), come and see the ‘Meet the Birds’ show. Or, for something truly unique come and watch wild Herons at ‘Heron Happy Hour’, when as many as 30 herons come to feed.

For Schools and Groups:

The Centre is a fantastic resource for schools and groups. For school groups of children aged 5-11 years old we offer free tours and activities specially designed around the National Curriculum. Key Stage One children can become Owl Detectives, and Key Stage Two children can learn about becoming Owl Guardians.
To learn more about our tours or to book a place on one please telephone the office on 01229 717393.

For specialist groups or groups of other ages we are happy to design something which caters for your particular needs. Telephone the office on 01229 717393 for more details.

A preliminary teacher visit is possible. Please telephone us on 01229 717393 and we will gladly arrange it for you.

More Information: For Individuals:

We also offer some fantastic one to one experiences. Our ‘Keeper for the Day’ experiences are hugely popular and give participants the chance to really get behind the scenes of the Centre. For younger owl enthusiasts there is also the chance to be a ‘Junior Keeper’.
