The World Owl Trust Day- A Great Success

The first World Owl Trust Day was held on 27th September at the Stirk House Hotel and everyone agreed it was a great success. Thanks must go to all the staff here and Paul, Helen and Anne at Stirk House for all their help and hard work in arranging a wonderful day of events.

First up was the AGM for members only which was attended by over 50 members during which new Council members Kevan Palmer and Grahame Smith were elected and welcomed on board.

After the official business was completed everybody gathered outside for a guided conservation walk in the grounds of Stirk House. At this point David Bellamy arrived creating much interest and joined us on the walk. The walk was open to everyone and many people turned up for the event, I tried to count how many but everyone kept moving about but I can tell you there were well over 100 people out there. Tony led the group round and gave as you would expect a wonderful dialogue which held everybody spellbound ably assisted by David Bellamy when he could get a word in.

Then it was back to the Hotel for a rest before the grand finale the Gala Dinner, and what an event it was. Again over 100 people attending enjoying superb fun and service before rounding off the night with a mesmerising talk from David Bellamy who was on top form. It was a really fantastic day and the feedback has been fantastic which means we will be repeating the event next year and details will be posted as soon as arrangements are complete.
