In the early part of the 19th century, was a rare vagrant to the British Isles. Subsequent introductions were surprisingly successful and, consequently, is now a common species in Britain. Once known by a variety of names such as Belgian Owl, Dutch Owl, French Owl, Lilford‘s Owl, Little Dutch Owl, Indian Owl, Little Grey (Gray) Owl, Little Night Owl, Little Spotted Owl and Spanish Owl.
