Dijon the Long Eared Owl hatched at the Scottish Owl Centre in the April of 2025 and was donated to the World Owl Trust as an Ambassador Owl to promote the breeding and release scheme for Long Eared Owls that the Scottish Owl Centre and World Owl Trust are working on together. He was trained by one of our young volunteers Brielle who has spent hours handling him to make sure he is nice and tame when meeting his adoring public and at the end of May the two of them did their first public flying display. You will no doubt meet Dijon, and possibly Brielle, out and about at events across the UK promoting the owl conservation work the World Owl Trust do. Long-eared Owls are a British species of owl which is hard to spot in the wild due to their low numbers and amazing camouflage, so being able to get up close and personal to this wonderful owl is a great experience.
